Food for dissolving struvite stones in the bladder, for temporary use.

The food has a reduced magnesium and phosphorus content (components of struvite crystals) to dissolve struvite uroliths and prevent the formation of struvite crystals and stones in the bladder.

pH of urine below 6.0-6.3 dissolves existing struvite crystals and reduces the risk of their recurrence.
The increased sodium content stimulates cats to drink more. This promotes a decrease in mineral concentration in urine and more frequent urination.

EPA and DHA - are omega-3 fatty acids that positively affect joint, skin, and coat health.

• SPECIFIC™ FSW Struvite Dissolution daily allowance is recommended to be divided into 3 or 4 feeding times, which minimizes the possible postprandial increase in urine pH.
• When struvite stones dissolve (usually within 1-2 months), the cat should be started on SPECIFIC™ FCD/FCW Crystal Prevention or SPECIFIC™ FCD-L Crystal Prevention Light food for repeated struvite prevention.
• Cats with recurrent struvite urolithiasis are better fed with canned food, as cats that eat canned food take in more water. As a result, urine volume increases, the amount of minerals in urine decreases, and urination is more frequent.
• Although stones in the bladder formed from magnesium-ammonium phosphate crystals (struvite crystals) are common in cats, they should not be considered the cause in all cases of urolithiasis. It is extremely important to determine the type of urolith, as different feeding strategies are used for each type (see the urolithiasis control chart in the "SPECIFIC™ food technical information" section).
