In cats, insulin release is triggered by amino acids, not glucose. Very low carbohydrate and high protein content reduces hyperglycemia in cats with diabetes and supports diabetes remission.

Uniquely high omega-3 fatty acid content from fish, krill, and algae. Diabetes is associated with increased levels of inflammatory mediators, reduced insulin sensitivity, and decreased immunity. Omega-3 fatty acids provide raw materials for the formation of those mediators that support the natural anti-inflammatory process, improve immunity, and help increase insulin sensitivity.

Beta-1,3 / 1,6-glucans can bind to macrophages and alert the immune system, thus supporting the immune response and altering natural cytokine production, as well as helping to maintain glycemic control.

Diabetes is associated with oxidative stress, which is involved in the development of diabetic complications. A high amount of antioxidants, such as vitamins A, E, and fruit extracts, in the diet helps neutralize reactive oxygen species.

The food contains fermentable fibers (FOS and beet pulp), which promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in the large intestine and maintain a healthy microbiome in cats with diabetes.
